Dear Parents,
The first edition of the First Grade Weekly was sent home on Friday. It contains the homework assignments for the week, sight words, spelling words, upcoming events, and general classroom news. The daily homework activities in the packet were chosen to enhance what is being taught in the classroom and to give extra practice with reading and math skills. You will find a reading log on the second page. This was added to the packet so you and your child can keep track of their reading at home.
Please return the homework and the homework folder by next Friday.

Dear first grade families,
We had a wonderful first week of school. Our classroom is filled with kind, bright, adorable first graders who are eager to learn. This year our specialist time will be daily from 12:10-12:55.
Monday-Music
Tuesday- Library
Wednesday- PE. (Please make sure your child has on appropriate shoes.)
Thursday- Technology with Mrs. Mouritsen
Friday- Technology with Mrs. Carney
Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle daily. Water bottles will be sent home each afternoon. Please wash them and return with fresh water each day.
This week in reading we will be focusing on short vowel a. In grammar we will be working on writing and identifying complete sentences. In math we will continue our work with number bonds and solving one step story problems.
If you have a current volunteer form on file with the office and are interested in helping in our classroom, please contact me. Our door is always open.
